Significance |
Edgar County was one of the stops on Abraham Lincoln's
Circuit Ride when he provided legal assistance to Edgar County Illinois
residents. This monument is dedicated to him. |
| Long Description |
This monument represents the circuit ride
of President Lincoln in 1849-1854, before he was president. At that
time he was a lawyer. Lincoln traveled across the state to Edgar
County in order to get to court here. President Lincoln most likely
stayed in the area with friends until the Judge arrived and court
started. This monument is very important to us and is found on the
Edgar County Courthouse grounds. |
